Stewardship at St. Luke's:

Stewardship is an essential expression of our faith and our relationship with God.  It is making choices about the use of the gifts God has given us.  Particularly God calls us to be good stewards of creation and of the Gospel.  We are invited to value, use wisely, and hand on to others what has been generously given us as gift.

St. Luke’s as individuals and as a community gives generously to organizations and programs which provide assistance to those in need including: Episcopal Relief and Development, Habitat for Humanity, Relay For Life, Crop Walk, Bethel House, and Lazarus House.

Our predecessors in the faith at St. Luke’s, passed on to us a discipline of prayer, service, a small endowment for program and Christian formation, and a historical facility.  We are grateful for these gifts and gladly share them with the community of Whitewater, the church and the world.

Our Parish Hall facility is used for monthly Gathering meals for the Whitewater community and  for the campus community.  Two Girl Scout troops meet here monthly and three different 12 Step Programs meet here weekly.   Our worship space is an Historic Church of the late 1800’s with many newly restored stained glass windows providing a sacred space encounter the living God. We have a yearly Pledge Drive for our operating budget.  We encourage every member to give proportionally, working toward the tithe of 10% in thanksgiving to God through the ministry of this local parish, the Diocese of Milwaukee, and the Episcopal Church.   We have learned to give because we need to give.  Our giving is based on our fervent desire to give back to God in thanksgiving just a portion of what He has blessed us with.

From time to time we have special campaigns for capital funds for repair and restoration of the facility and the stained glass windows.

Planned Giving provides the opportunity through contributions to endowments for program or formation at St. Luke’s.  Direct gifts, gifts or stocks/bonds, or bequests through wills or trusts show foresight and faith and greatly to contribute to St. Luke’s ability to carry out its mission in Whitewater.

Finally, we show our stewardship of the Gospel in our weekly gathering for worship and Christian formation.   Public worship and private prayer form the heart of our life together as St. Luke’s.  We are also formed in Christ as we teach and are instructed by each other in the ways of following Jesus as passed on to us through the Episcopal Church.  Formation Classes for Adults and Children meet regularly.
